How To Keep The Weight Off

So I get asked this alot- How long did it take you to lose your weight and how to you keep it off? And then follows the inevitable...if I worked out all day I could be thin as well. So let me set the record straight and tell you how I keep my weight off and how it is a struggle each and every day.

1. I track portions. SERIOUSLY. I know how much a portion is and with the exception of vegetables I don't go over.

2. I drink A LOT. Haha! Don't get excited- I don't drink at all. I gave up all alcohol and drink only water, coffee, tea, and the occasional seltzer and lemonade. A lot of your hunger cues are really thirsty cues. You are really thirsty and not hungry

Make sure that you are properly hydrated. Aim for 60-64 oz a day.

3. I don't eat a lot of bread or bread products. I realized this by accident. It isn't because I am avoiding gluten or that it makes me feel gross. It's because a slice of bread is on average 200 calories. Put together a sandwich and you are at 400 BEFORE anything in the middle. I would rather eat a GIANT salad and throw on massive amounts of toppings and dressing than just get 2 slices of bread.

4. I plan EVERYTHING! I am naturally this way but leaving your meals up to chance is just a way to binge, indulge and otherwise go off course. For example, if I know my snack is carrots and peanut butter (don't judge its yummy) then I am less likely to be searching around in the pantry for something like cookies.

5. I don't buy it. I know its harsh because many of you are thinking you need to get it for your family. But let's feed our families the best we can-not something else. If it is not there, you can't eat it. Plain and simple.

6. I exercise obviously. I do this for a living. But you don't need to exercise all day to be fit. You do need to get moving. Ideally, you need to move every hour especially those of you who have desk jobs. Try hard to get some sort of exercise every day! You can do it.

Remember this is what worked for me. I can't promise it will work for you. Just that I have felt better than I ever have, weigh less than I have in my ENTIRE adult life, and do more now than I did in my 20's. Don't give up because you think you are too old, too fat, too ___________. You can start again and get the fitness level you want. I am always here to help you and answer your questions.
