So you know you just got the kids back to school, you have been on vacation...and well you haven't really been devoted to your exercise routine. You think that this will just cause you to have some horizontal spread but it is really hurting your cognitive abilities according to a new study from the University of Maryland Public Health. WHAT????? I just am getting to relax after sending the kids back to school and now you are telling me I am going to have brain fog! So who
Last week: Get at least 6 hours of sleep a night! Why? The body restores and heals itself during the sleep cycle. You need at least 6 hours a night to achieve a decent REM cycle to optimize your restoration. So turn off your electronics and the TV and get some shut eye. Ideally the only thing your bedroom should be used for is sleeping, romance, and well...I can't think of anything else. So if you are working, eating, watching TV etc. those are easy changes to make this
Challenge #4: Floss everyday this week. Why? I know this is a weird one but flossing is obviously linked to less tooth decay and gum disease. BUT, did you know that the same bacteria in your mouth can be linked to inflammation in the heart and trigger heart disease. This is a huge factor in prolonging life! So break out the floss and get in there! PS: This should make for some GREAT pictures this week :)
Life is WAY too busy and as adults we don't play enough. When was the last time you walked away from all your electronics and just played like the kid you once were? This week's challenge: STOP AND PLAY: Plant a pretty flower Roll in the mud Make mud pies Run through the sprinkler Play red light green light Play tag Do all those things you used to do when you were little with abandon. WHY? You will not only exercise but have a feeling of nostalgia which boosts mood.
Recently, the tragic deaths of runners has made me reconsider running alone. However, after a week of not being able to find a running buddy who could meet on my crazy schedule I started looking on how to be safe and ALONE! Therefore, my running safety with pepper spray is limited because it's in the car or the house. Not very helpful. I do think I will make a better eff
I promised you no gimmicks and the truth is there is no quick and easy way to lose weight. Any program that promised that is most likely going to fail. If you are like me and been there and done that, then keep reading. Losing weight is really hard and there is no simple solution. If you are like me and you've tried it all AND I really mean it all from weight watchers, slim fast, jenny craig, whole30, 21 day fix, etc,etc and still not seeing the results I am sure that you a
WEEK 2: Go forth and be kind. Do that random thing for someone. Take it up a notch for yourself- For example, I have paid for people behind me in the tolls, coffee, etc so I am going to ramp it up this week and really go for it. Not sure what I am going to do but I am going to step out of my comfort zone. WHY? Doing good for others boosts our own happy chemicals and makes us for good about ourselves even if it never gets appreciated back.
